Chocolate Brownie Cake

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

You guys let me tell you, my family asks for this cake to be made on the regular. Follow these super simple and easy steps.

PREP TIME: 5 MINS

COOK TIME: 55 MINS

TOTAL TIME: 1 HR

Ingredients Needed:

CAKE

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (I prefer betty crocker)

  • 1 box fudge brownie mix (I prefer betty crocker)

  • 4 eggs, room temperature

  • 1.5 cups of water

  • 1 cup of cooking oil (I use canola)

  • Cooking spray (I use pam baking spray)

GANACHE

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips

CAKE STEPS

  • Gather all ingredients & preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

  • In a mixing bowl, combine; cake and brownie mix

  • In a small bowl, combine; eggs, water, and oil

  • While stirring, add small bowl mixture to mixing bowl; remove all lumps (electric mixture for faster results)

  • Spray cake pan (bundt for same look) heavily with cooking spray

  • Pour batter from mixing bowl into the cake pan

  • Bake for 55 minutes, use fork or knife to verify doneness

  • Once done baking, rest cake by turn cake out into a cooling rack (or baking sheet) for 5 minutes

  • Allow cake to cool for 30 minutes

GANACHE STEPS

  • In a microwave-safe bowl pour heavy whipping cream

  • Heat bowl for 2 minutes, cream should be just boiling

  • Slowly add chocolate chips to cream, be careful cream may pop up

  • Let bowl sit for 5 minutes

  • Whisk cream and chocolate together until rich and smooth

  • Pour over cake

Enjoy with a cold cup of milk or even ice cream. Add whip cream and strawberries for an extra treat, oh, and even caramel syrup.
